Some art is like dreaming.
The meaning of the piece may not always be clear, but you're taken to a place. The viewer has their interpretations according to how they see the artist, or failing that, see themselves. Obscure, wonderful, commonplace, disturbing etc but safe. Stepping out of and away from the image, the feelings or notions have a residual effect and become more incarnate.
Rather than asking 'what does it mean?', the piece beckons 'how do you feel?'
